People & Culture Council

Being Formed
By: Dale Fruehauf
Date: July 2, 2020

The Avamere Family of Companies (AFC) is forming a People & Culture Council focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee engagement.

The council was first announced in December 2019 and an intensified focus is placed on the council following CEO Rick Miller’s announcement to employees about diversity and inclusion.

Dale Fruehauf, Chief People Officer for AFC, serves as the executive sponsor of the council with Lisa Marie May, Senior Director of Talent Acquisition for AFC, as chair. The council will work closely with Zanele Mutepfa Rhone, AFC’s new diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant.

“The Avamere Family of Companies believes in putting people first,” Dale stated. “We are increasing our attention on our People Priority, especially regarding diversity, equity and inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and employee engagement. Everyone deserves to feel valued and respected at Avamere, and it is the goal of our new People & Culture Council to address these vital areas and promote an environment of equity and inclusion.”

Lisa Marie is excited to serve as chair on the council.

“I’m very proud and privileged to play a significant role on the People & Culture Council with a fabulous team of people who believe and embrace equality for all,” Lisa Marie shared. “AFC is walking the talk by bringing in an expert to guide us. This is an opportunity for us to learn, teach, and respect each other through the various voices that are committed to a better future.”

The People & Culture Council will be made of a cross-functional team mainly comprised of senior leaders. In the future, Dale plans to expand the council with additional teams to drive corporate social responsibility initiatives, including diversity and inclusion and a focus on how Avamere can improve society and the environment by giving to and volunteering for important causes.
