ASHA Ethics & Supervision

Just a friendly reminder for all the SLPs out there, ASHA has new certification standards and professional requirements that began January 1, 2020. Therefore, you are being invited to get mentally active with these new criteria:
- SLPs must take one hour of professional development in the area of ethics for each three-year maintenance interval.
- In order to mentor a Clinical Fellow (CF), all CF mentors will be required to have nine months of full-time experience (or part-time equivalent) working as an SLP with their CCCs before they can begin mentoring.
- All clinical supervisors and CF mentors providing supervision for students and CFs must complete at least two hours of professional development in the area of supervision and/or clinical instruction. This is a one-time requirement prior to supervising/mentoring.
