The home office is hard at work on unraveling the complexities of a shared services environment with Avamere. The new target date of January 1st provides some much-needed time for the different work groups to establish what operating independently will look like.

Some of the challenges each home office department is working on vary from staffing to establishing independent contracts with our vendors, to possibly doing a service buy-back from Avamere for some of the support we are currently using. There are many details to consider.

We currently share myriad outside services contracts with Avamere that are supported by Avamere employees. The list continues to grow as we think through items like accounting software, audit services, insurance, HR software, etc. It all needs to be separated out and new Master Service Agreements (MSA) established. Each MSA takes time from multiple people as we negotiate, and each contract can have multiple bids as part of the negotiation.

The staffing challenge isn’t that the current team is not exceptional because it is! It is that we need to take on the roles that Avamere was providing, such as IT, accounting, marketing, legal, etc. Some of these services we may continue to contract with Avamere, but for those that we don’t, we want to make sure we fill the roles with the right people and not rush to hit a deadline. The human component and finding talent that believes in the Infinity mission, vision, and values is one of the most important tasks to build a stronger and independent company.

Avamere has done a great job in providing Infinity with multiple shared services that we have unfettered access to. In this spin-off analysis, one of the critical things we want to consider is the value for the money we are spending. Many components Avamere offers have provided us excellent coverage at a cost we could not hope to compete with if we were to build out internally or contract with an outside vendor. These “make vs. buy” analyses must be considered as me move forward in establishing the next practice for Infinity.

Thank you everyone for your patience as the home office continues to move forward to the January 1st target date, with hopefully minimal disruption.
