Navigating Changes from COVID-19

Every one of us has been impacted by COVID-19 in both our work lives and personal lives. Throughout these ever-changing and uncertain times, I’m thankful and proud to have a resilient team dedicated to providing care of the utmost quality and attention to safety precautions.

Due to temporary declining census and some outpatient locations cancelling therapy appointments, COVID-19 has caused Infinity Rehab to put some staff on furlough. To these staff, I am personally grateful to have you as part of the Infinity Rehab team. Thank you for being there, and thank you to the staff who have willingly returned to serve our seniors as needs arise. I encourage all our directors of rehab to check in with your furloughed employees periodically.

New safety guidelines have caused a shift in our industry toward telehealth. This is a familiar practice to Infinity Rehab as several of our staff have conducted telehealth supervision and patient visits before.

The interim final rule from April 30, 2020 allows for telehealth in private practice and some outpatient settings. Laura Cantrell, Regional Director of Operations for our outpatient business has completed her first full telehealth visit. Sarah Townsend-Grant has joined this effort. We are also piloting onsite virtual visits at select locations for supervisory visits and evaluations.

Its times like these that our clinical model is more important than ever before. We are continuing to refine our responsible therapist role and processes. This effort supports our focus on ensuring every patient receive the benefits of best-evidence care at the appropriate intensity and dosage, tailored to their individual needs.

The future is difficult to predict. Plans change weekly, daily, and even hourly. We have laid plans for multiple scenarios that includes planning for growing census and returning staff. We are committed to keeping you informed and will continue to provide more details and answer your questions.

You are not alone in this difficult time. Reach out to one another – your coworkers, leaders, friends, and family. Now more than ever, it’s crucial we be there for each other.

Thank you to all our staff for your dedication and persistence, now and always.
