Recapping Our All-Company Call

I held our recent all-company call on September 17, 2021. Here are some important notes from this meeting.

Workshare Agreements
With the recent resurgence of COVID-19 in our communities, some of you asked if Infinity Rehab plans to restart workshare agreements in our states. While we are electing not to restart workshare at this time, we are re-opening our policy on negative PTO accrual as an option. Additionally, we are -re-opening the PTO pooling option for employees who wish to contribute to their colleagues affected by COVID-19 in their buildings.

Employee Survey Results
We have reviewed employee survey results. Thank you for your valued opinions. There was a clear message from the field about feeling micro-managed, comments on control, autonomy, and a sense that corporate is out of touch with the frontline clinician.

Here is what we’re doing to address these concerns:

1. Ambassador Program:

• Visits from leadership into your programs, as COVID-19 allows
• Stacey Turner, Vice President of Operations, and I have plans to begin field visits in early October
• If not allowed due to visitor restrictions, we will work on an alternate method, including Zoom meetings with smaller groups

2. Clinical Model:

We continue our vision to provide the best-evidenced rehab. Our clinical model is clearly that.
We know you are under tremendous pressure in your buildings with COVID-19, PPE, frequent testing, and other concerns. Thank you for your continued professional work and excellent judgment even amongst these challenges.

We know that collecting and measuring our outcomes has led to better outcomes overall for our patients (compared to benchmarking data and our data in the early days of our clinical process). We are leaning on all of you to choose the best care for your patients. You are highly trained and responsible clinicians, and we trust you to make the right choice for your patients.

We still expect excellent outcomes, but we have stopped focusing on the daily management of the process measures because we do not want to micromanage you on your treatment approaches. We do want to empower you to choose well and have the tools and resources you need to deliver the proper care to your patients. We are not changing our beliefs around our clinical model, but rather we will be simplifying our clinical process measures with upcoming documentation changes. We are somewhat at the mercy of our EMR partner to allow the changes we envision; however, we aim for a minimalist approach to documentation.

3. Pay, Communication, & Authority:

We have received and hear your feedback regarding pay, communication, and authority.

We are moving in a new direction in organizational design by the end of the year. We already have strong leaders. Where it makes sense, we will give you more decision-making authority over the operation of your program.

Organizational change is never easy, but we have a clear vision of where we want to be in the future. Additionally, we know we are starting down the right path based on the conversation and consensus from our recent strategic planning meeting.

We are doing this in response to our survey results to deliver more to you: this may include our compensation model to our frontline staff, enhanced benefits, security, and support. We have built a cross-functional leadership team to spearhead this work. For now, I ask you to trust in the process, in your leadership team, and me that together we will emerge a stronger, more future-proof organization ready to evolve and adapt in our ever-changing environment.

Short Survey
To aid in this effort to identify ways to strengthen our performance and capability, we need more information from you. So, we have partnered with Polinode, a people analytics software firm, to help us better understand how work really gets done at Infinity Rehab.
This week you will receive a short, eight-question online survey where you will be asked about the individuals with whom you work and communicate.
Your answers will help us map out connections across Infinity and help us better understand how our people are connected to get work done together so that we can identify strengths and opportunities for us to build upon, including movement forward on the action items listed above.
This survey is unique to you and will be sent to your preferred email address on file in UKG (UltiPro). Your input is essential to our success and insights, and I thank you in advance for your participation.

For full details, see this Insider article.

401(k) Plan
Earlier this week, we distributed over half a million dollars as a part of our 401(k)-employee match. The 401(k) plan is a great way to save for your future and is an excellent benefit to person who participates in this program.

Thank you all for your continued work. The leadership team and I continue to be amazed and inspired by your level of professionalism, respect, and passion for serving our patients. We truly appreciate you.
