Self-Management

Patty Scheets, Vice President of Quality and Clinical Outcomes, sat down with therapists Janell Consbruck, OT, and Samuel Harris, COTA, to dive into their experience with the patient self-management initiative.

Starting with the health journals

Janell started with the health journals (available on Springboard) to find out more about Infinity Rehab’s patient self-management initiative. There she found helpful tools.

“By using those tools, I’ve increased my patient engagement, I’ve increased my involvement, and it’s made me a better therapist,” Janell shared.

Engaged patients are happy patients

Following this initiative allowed Janell to show patient progress, increase patient engagement, and reduce frustration.

Sam had a similar experience. He noted patients could see where they were to where they are currently in their confidence level.

“It fills in a patient buy-in to the process, and they tend to perform better because of that,” he said.

Janel summed up this initiative perfectly: “We are increasing engagement because we’re letting them lead us.”
