Date: August 26, 2021

Our first Shining Star this issue is Alaena Bateman, OT. Alaena works at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Anchorage, Alaska.

Alaena is committed to practicing the clinical model and providing evidence-based principles to our residents in this most crucial time of healthcare. We have been in a fortunate position to be able to provide group treatment sessions, and Alaena is innovative with spearheading regular groups to include a facility favorite Yoga group. She has recently completed a CEU course that ties Yoga principles to addressing COPD and breath support. This has been successful in decreasing patient anxiety and increasing their participation in therapy, preparing them for discharge to the community.

Our second Shining Star this issue is Cindy Weiland, PT. Cindy works at The Fountains of Hilltop in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Cindy is a shining example of Infinity Rehab’s mission: “To enhance the life of every person we serve.”

Not only is Cindy an incredibly skilled clinician, but she is also an amazing co-worker and friend. Cindy has been the most wonderful addition to our Grand Junction team. She always goes the extra mile to help a fellow therapist, co-worker, resident, or client. Every morning when she comes into work, she is smiling and greets everyone on the way in. She radiates optimism and her positivity lifts everyone up.

She recently went above and beyond for a resident in our ALF, advocating on her behalf to the facility care team while working closely with this client’s family and medical team. Many changes were made for the better as a result of Cindy’s efforts. This client’s family member wrote, “Thank you again and again for your vigilance and caring, Cindy. Mom is so blessed to have you as her physical therapist and friend.”

We are so grateful to work alongside Cindy! Thank you for all you do!
