Payer Priority:

An Update
By: Wade Bennett
Date: August 1, 2019

One of our Strategic Priorities is our Accountable Care Organization & Payer Priority. The Payer Priority was created to enhance our ability to have better success in payer relationships, referral source partnerships, and pay for performance.

We brought on Wade Bennett in April 2019 as our new Director of Payor Relations. Wade has been working hard to improve our rates across our system of care.

Wade provided an update on the many initiatives he is working on to improve and enhance our payer relations:

  • We have created many points of contact with national insurance contractors who will assist us in obtaining competitive rates, which are above market average.
  • We joined a quality post-acute care network called PACNet. They will assist us in negotiating within the post-acute network space.
  • The rollout and implementation of PACNet is going well. We are collectively negotiating with insurance companies to transition our current payment systems to be competitive with PDPM and PDGM. This will increase our revenues and quality care across our continuum. Note: additional updates coming soon on PACNet.
  • I work with Jordon Moore of Signature Healthcare at Home to ensure our home health agencies have been credentialing/recredentialed and that they gain access to payer partners that they feel would be beneficial to have in their system.
  • This year, we have gained new payer partners for home health (Humana) and SNF (Provider Network of America). We have increased our rates with the Veteran administration and will soon be in all communities.
  • We have increased rates for payers such as Providence Elderplace, VA, Kaiser (PDPM).
  • We are broadening our network with companies like Humana and PacificSource to encompass all our lines of business, thus working more efficiently.
